This is the West Gate of the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. Gates, or Gopurams like these, in the exact shape and form are constructed on all four directions to mark the entry to the temple campus. While most South Indian temple and particularly those in Tamil Nadu have a similar structure and design for the Gopuram, what stands out for the ones at the Meenakshi Temple are their astounding heights.
