Up Close with Qutub

Long before the Mughals came to the country, India was already witnessing a remarkable surge in construction of archtectural wonders. Qutub Minar, world’s tallest brick tower at 72.5m, was built by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the Sultan of Delhi and was completed by his successors Iltutmish and Feroz Sha Tughlaq. Construction began in 1193 and that makes it over 800 years old, the monument still stands tall, attracting around 4 million visitors every year. While people are awestruck just by the height of the Minar, they tend not to notice the beautiful art work and the intricate carvings on the wall. May be this close look reveal the beautiful work!
