Located very close to the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, the Thirumalai Nayak Mahal was built in 1636 by King Thirumalai Nayak. It was originally four times larger than its current size. The palace is a classic example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, blending Dravidian and Rajput styles with Islamic influences. It served as the king’s residence and a venue for royal ceremonies and events. Over time, parts of the palace were dismantled, but the remaining structure still showcases the grandeur of its original design.
