The Mysore Palace

An architectural wonder, this is one of the most famous tourist spots in India, perhaps second only to the Taj Mahal. Not as old as the Taj, this is the official residence of the Wodeyars, the dynasty which ruled Mysore (which covered large parts of South India in those days) for a long time.
